Dec 20, 2020

The Aberdeen Wings suffered their first loss of the 2020-21 season after falling 4-0 to the St. Cloud Norsemen Saturday night at the Odde Ice Arena.

Aberdeen had plenty of opportunities but failed to find the back of the net. They are now 15-1-0-0 after sixteen games played.

St. Cloud got on the board quickly with a goal from Brett Chorske at the 1:22 mark. They added another goal from Jack Reimann on the power play just over three minutes later. Chorske scored again for the Norsemen at the 12:24 mark and the Wings found themselves down three goals heading into the first intermission. Aberdeen had 15 shots on goal in the first, compared to 12 from St. Cloud.

In the second period, the Wings outshot the Norsemen 14-8 but couldn’t get one past Norsemen goalie Paxton Geisel. The score remained 3-0 heading into the final 20 minutes of play.

At the 3:44 mark in the third period, Jack Suchy scored the game’s final goal for the Norsemen.

Aberdeen outshot St. Cloud 39-27 but the puck luck just wasn’t on their side. St. Cloud moves to 3-7-0-0 on the season.

Wings goalie Dominik Wasik stopped nine of twelve shots he faced before being replaced by Jacob Sibell at the 12:25 mark in the first period. Sibell stopped 14 of 15 shots faced. Geisel stopped all 39 shots the Wings sent him.

The Wings return to the ice after the Christmas break when they host the Bismarck Bobcats on Friday, Jan. 1. Fans can purchase tickets ahead of time online at tickets.AberdeenWings.com.
