Wings win on the road at Bismarck

The Aberdeen Wings defeated the Bismarck Bobcats 6-4 on the road Friday.

After a scoreless first period, Nathan Mann got the Wings on the board first, scoring a goal at the 6:36 mark in the second period. Mann was assisted by Caiden Gault. Just over three minutes later, Jordan Randall put the Wings up 2-0, assisted by Michael Reed and Cade Neilson. After a Bismarck goal by John Gormley, the Wings headed into the locker room leading 2-1.

Christian Abrams started the scoring in the third period with a goal 1:42 seconds in, assisted by Natan Vertes and Clayton Cosentino. Thomas Manty followed with a goal of his own at the 7:53 mark, assisted by Neilson and Nico deVita.

After leading 4-1, Bismarck tied the game up with three unanswered goals from John Ziskie, Dawson Klein and Ziskie again. However, the Wings answered with a Randall goal at the 15:57 mark, assisted by Reed and Neilson, who picked up his third assist of the game. Vertes sealed the game for the Wings with the game’s final goal at the 18:32 mark, with the assist from Manty and Cosentino, who picked up his seventh assist of the season.

The Wings outshot the Bobcats 37-33. Jake Sibell stopped 29 of the 33 shots he faced.

The Wings, who went 1-3 on the power play, move to 3-0 on the season.

The Bobcats will travel to face the the Wings at home Saturday at the Odde Ice Arena for the annual Rooster Rush game, where fans are encouraged to wear their orange clothing. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and puck drops at 7:15 p.m. Fans can purchase tickets ahead of time at
