Wings Win 7-1 over North Iowa!

The Aberdeen Wings kicked off the 2018-2019 season with a big home exhibition win over the North Iowa Bulls by a score of 7-1 Friday night at the Odde Ice Center.  Dalton Weigel got things started with an early 1st period goal with an assists going to Easton Easterson.  It took 10 more minutes for someone to find the back of the net but at the 4:07 mark of the first one of the Wings birthday boys on the team netted his first goal as a Wing.  Matt Kirwin scored with Pokorny & Morgan assisting.  Under a minute later Kyle Mandleur made it 3-0 with Rocco getting the assist.  Dalton Weigel would close out the 1st period with his 2nd goal of the night at the 1:57 mark.  Assisting on the Weigel goal were Sladic and the other birthday boy Strada.  The Wings went into the 1st intermission with a 4-0 lead.

The 2nd period was more of the same as Sladic netted his first goal of the season at the 11:51 mark.  Assisting Sladic was Strada & Sicoly.  North Iowa would get on the board when Jordan Roo put in a rebound making it 5-1 at the end of the 2nd period.

Early in the 3rd Thomas Rocco would give the Wings a 6-1 lead with Machlitt assisting.  It would be John Sladic putting things to bed midway through the 3rd period with Sicoly assisting on the 7th and final goal of the contest.  Connor Close and Matt Vernon were fantastic between the pipes for the Wings combining for the win.  The two teams are back at it tonight night at the Odde.  Doors open at 5:30 and the puck drops at 7:15.
