Wings Take 4-2 Exhibition Scrimmage Win Over Bismarck

Sep 6, 2023

The Aberdeen Wings used solid defense and a few late goals to take a 4-2 decision in an exhibition scrimmage Tuesday afternoon at the Odde.  After a scoreless 1st session, The Wings fell behind on a goal from Connor Broadhead at the 11 minute mark of the 2nd.  The lead didn’t last long though when Matthew Wisener put the Wings on the board with his first of the game.  Michal Sobotka would have the only goal of the 3rd session giving the Wings a 2-1 lead heading into the final 25 minutes.  Aberdeen was able to get some distance between the Bobcats in the 4th getting another goal from Wisener and one from Jaxson Murray to close out the scoring for the Wings.  Bismarck would add a late goal from Landon Fandel.  This exhibition scrimmage was designed to see players trying out for the regular season roster so the format was a little different from a normal game.  They played 4 25 minute sessions with players switching out at the half way point.  “Was good to play against not our team and learn by making mistakes. The team played hard and looking to improve as we will see Sioux falls in 2 days” Wings Head Coach & GM Scott Langer

Next up for the Wings will be a trip to Sioux Falls to play a similar format against the Sioux Falls Stampede.  The NAHL regular season kicks off next Wednesday September 13th in Blaine, MN at the NAHL Showcase.  The Wings will return to the Odde for the regular season home opening weekend September 22nd & 23rd.  For tickets and more information visit Tickets.AberdeenWings.com
