The Aberdeen Wings hosted the North Iowa Bulls this past weekend while wearing their YMCA Strong Kids Glow in the Dark Jerseys.
Friday’s contest started with a goal by Leonid Bulgakov at the 2:49 mark, the goal was assisted by Jibber Kuhl. This would be Leonid’s 17th goal of the season. Later, Aberdeen’s Drew Mackie would add to the scoring, with Matthew Wisener and Leonid Bulgakov assisting. At the 14:21 mark, North Iowa’s Jack Seaverson would give a response, leaving the score 2-1 in favor of the Wings heading into the second period.
At the 8:36 mark of the second period, North Iowa would get the chance to tie the game when Nolan Grier would find the back of the net. Later, however, Riley Sharun would collect his 10th of the season with Jibber Kuhl and Matthew Wisener assisting. It was at this time that Matthew Wisener would collect his 100th career point (combined MJHL and NAHL). Then, with 30 seconds left in the second period, Grant Winkler would get his 3rd goal of the season, granting the assist to Simon Pollock. The score was 4-2 entering the third.
The third period started with Bennett Koupal at the 6:50 mark, with Luke Backel and Jackson Anderson assisting. Then, at the 14:38 mark, Nikolai Tishkevich would score, extending the Wings lead. Assists would go to Salvatore Collora, and Matthew Wisener. Without a response from North Iowa, the game ended with the score being 6-2 in favor of the Wings.
The three stars of the game for Friday’s contest were Nikolai Tishkevich (1 goal), Matthew Wisener (3 assists), and Riley Sharun (1 goal).
Croix Kochendorfer was in net and saved 23 of 25.
Saturday was Jersey Auction night!
Just two minutes into the first period, Isak Holmstrom for the Wings would be the first to get on the board, assists going to Jackson Anderson and Grant Winkler. The period would continue on with plenty of offensive chances for the Wings, but it wouldn’t be until 15:53 when Jackson Anderson would extend the Wings lead, assists going to Nikolai Tishkevich and Simon Pollock. With no answer from North Iowa, the score would be 2-0 heading into the second period.
Although there were plenty of scoring opportunities in the second period, the score would remain 2-0 after the second.
At 6:57 into the third, Matthew Wisener would extend the lead again for the Wings, with assists going to Riley Sharun and Leonid Bulgakov. North Iowa would wait until the 12:22 mark to get on the board, the goal scored by Hayden Siegel. The game ended with a score of 3-1.
The three stars of the game for Saturday night were Matthew Wisener (1 goal), Simon Pollock (1 assist), and Isak Holmstrom (1 goal).
Adam Dybal was in net and saved 18 of 19.
Following the game, the Wings auctioned off their YMCA Strong Kids Campaign jerseys.
