Wings Split With Magicians

Friday March 11th: Aberdeen 1 @ MN Magicians 2 (SO) – In a goaltending battle, it was Minnesota’s Daniil Gerasimov who made 40 saves to lead the Magicians to a 2-1 shootout win over the visiting Wings. The win closed the gap to two points for the 4th and final playoff spot. The Wings opened the scoring early in the 1stperiod with a goal from Cole Thompson. The Magicians tied the game early in the 3rd period with a goal from Jack Christensen. In the shootout, it took five shooters a side for someone to finally score as Tanner Tweeten netted the shootout winner. Aberdeen goalie  Peter Thome made 35 saves in the loss.Boxscore

Saturday March 12th: Aberdeen 4 @ MN Magicians 3 (OT) – Carter Roo scored 1:39 into overtime as the Wings earned a weekend split with the Magicians thanks to a 4-3 OT win. Each team came away with three points in the series. The Magicians led 2-1 after one period as Travis Brown and Brady Heppner scored, while Gavin Payne had the lone Wings goal. After a scoreless 2nd period, The Wings scored twice early in the 3rd period with goals from Kyle Siemers and Will Hammer to take a 3-2 lead. Late in regulation, the Magicians tied the game up with a goal from Pierce Crawford. Peter Thome made 40 saves in the win, while Daniil Gerasimov made 47 saves in the loss. Boxscore

With the weekend split the Wings remain 3 points ahead of the Minnesota Magicians and now 6 points in front of the Brookings Blizzard for the 4th and final playoff spot in the NAHL Central Division.  This week the Wings will travel to Bismarck TUESDAY for a game vs the Bobcats before welcoming Bismarck to the Odde Ice Center for the final time in the regular season this Friday.  Tuesdays game in Bismarck was origionally scheduled for Monday March 14th.
