The Aberdeen Wings couldn’t create offense and struggled defensively, taking a 6-0 shutout loss against the Bismarck Bobcats Thursday night inside the Odde Ice Center.

Calvin Hanson opened scoring for the Bobcats with a shorthanded goal eight minutes into the game. Adam Pietila doubled their lead at the 15:43 mark in the first. Bismarck fired off 16 shots in the opening period while limiting Aberdeen to just four.

Brandon Reller got an unassisted goal at the 1:22 mark in the second period, and Vertti Jantunen scored less than a minute later at the 2:09 mark for the four-goal lead. The Wings picked things up in the middle period, taking 14 shots compared to Bismarck’s ten, but couldn’t find the back of the net.

The Bobcats continued scoring in the third, with Drew Holt getting a goal at the 3:20 mark and Chase Beacom getting the game’s final goal at the 8:47 mark. After another tough period, the Wings once again only managed four shots on goal while Bismarck got 12.

When the dust settled, the Bobcats outshot the Wings 38-22. Aberdeen went 0-6 on the power play while Bismarck went 0-4.
