Wings Release 2016 Pre-Draft Camp Information

Jan 26, 2016

The Aberdeen Wings Pre-Draft Evaluation Camp returns to the St. Thomas Ice Arena in Mendota Heights, MN from May 20-22, 2016.  Players born from 1996-2001 who aspire to play in the NAHL are invited to attend.

The Pre-Draft Evaluation Camp provides the Wings' coaching and scouting staffs an opportunity to view players firsthand prior to the 2016 NAHL Entry Draft, which takes place in early June.  The Wings also use the Pre-Draft Camp as a tool for evaluating prospects for the future.

"In so many ways, the scouting process begins at Pre-Draft," Wings Director of Scouting Mike Grattan said.  "We are always on the look-out for the 'now,' but if you look at the players we have tendered for next season, many started at the Pre-Draft Camp."

All members of the Wings coaching and scouting staffs will be on hand in Mendota Heights, including Head Coach Francis Anzalone.  All players have the opportunity to access the Wings coaching and scouting staffs, who provide an open line of communication to all camp attendees.

"We communicate with every team prior to every game and always try to be accessible to the players throughout the weekend," Grattan said.  "Giving feedback is a big part of the weekend.  We tell players all the time- not everyone is going to make it to the Main Camp and not everyone is going to get drafted or tendered out of the weekend, so take something with you from the experience that will better you down the line.  Oftentimes, we find that the players appreciate the communication and the feedback as much or more as they do the opportunity to compete."
