Austin 3 @ Aberdeen 4 (OT) – The Bruins stormed back from a 3-0 deficit, only to see the Wings win over overtime thanks to a goal from Matt Pulver :17 seconds into the bonus frame as Aberdeen beat Austin, 4-3. After a scoreless 1st period, it was all Wings in the opening nine minutes of the 2nd period as goals from Tucker DeYoung, Will Hammer and Colin Raver put the home side ahead, 3-0. The Bruins stormed back with a late 2nd period goal from Justin Misiak and 3rd period goals from Zach Kennedy and Austin Rueschhoff to knot the game at 3-3 before Pulver’s overtime heroics. Austin 1 @ Aberdeen 4 – Peter Thome made 43 saves to lead the Wings to a 4-1 win and weekend home sweep of the Bruins as Aberdeen took over sole possession of the 4th and final playoff spot in the Central. Friday’s night hero, Matt Pulver, got the Wings on the board first as part of the three-goal 1st period, which also included goals from Tanner Okeson and Ethan Stewart. Austin answered back in the 2nd period with their lone goal of the night from Jacob Pagnelli. Carter Roo added a 3rd period goal to complete the scoring for the Wings. Roobie Goor made 15 saves in the loss and Kris Calson came in relief and made 24 saves. Boxscore
The Wings teamed up with the Yelduz Shrine this weekend for their annual Teddy Bear toss. With Pulvers goal Saturday night the teddy bears went flying! The Wings fans were able to donate over 500 Teddy Bears that will go to the Shrines Children’s hospital in Minneapolis.
