Wings Gain No Points After Weekend in Bismarck

Apr 1, 2024

The Wings had a tough time generating offense while traveling to Bismarck over the weekend.

Friday’s matchup would start right away at the 1:15 mark when the Wings’ own Wes Turner would get them on the board. This goal was assisted by Matthew Wisener and Jibber Kuhl. However, Bismarck would respond by scoring two, the first by Julian Beaumont, the second by Patrick Johnson. The period would end with a score of 2-1 in favor of the Bobcats.

In the second period, the only team who would add to the board would be Bismarck. With the Wings taking untimely penalties, and allowing a short-handed goal, 3 goals would be scored by the Bobcats. The first goal would be from Tamas Toth, the second by Alexandr Kim, and the third by Patrick Johnson for his second of the night. The Bobcats would hold the lead 5-1 heading into the third.

Again, just 1:45 into the period, the Wings would finally add to their score. This goal was scored by Leonid Bulgakov, assisted by Simon Pollock and Nikolai Tishkevich. However, the Bobcats would extend their lead even further. One goal was scored by Alexandr Kim, and another scored by Matthew Rafalski. Bismarck would win the matchup with a score of 7-2.

Adam Dybal started the night in net, saving 21 of 25.

Croix Kochendorfer would relieve Dybal at the 16:00 mark of the second period, and saved 21 of 24.

Night two in Bismarck would prove to be an even bigger struggle offensively for the Wings.

Right away, at the 0:18 mark of the first, Bismarck would start their scoring streak when Ian Engel would get them on the board. Next, it would be Julian Beaumont, followed by Tamas Toth, Tommy Cronin, and Tamas Toth again – leaving the score 5-0 in favor of Bismarck leaving the first period.

Although the Wings would pick up defensively, Bismarck would still score one to add to their lead, the goal by Landon Fandel. The score would be 6-0 going into the third and final period of the weekend.

And finally, Bismarck would add to their lead a couple more times, once by Nick Baer, and again by Tommy Cronin. This would leave the score 8-0 in favor of Bismarck.

Croix Kochendorfer would start the night in net saving 10 of 14 the whole night. Adam Dybal would partially relieve him, saving 18 of 22 on the night. They would both see ice time in the first and third periods.
