Wings Fall Saturday 2-1

The Aberdeen Wings dropped the second game to the Minot Minotauros on Saturday night. The Wings had the 1-0 lead heading into the third period but a strong third from Minot would be the deciding factor of the game. Geno Pichora was in net for the Wings making 27/29 saves. Noah Rupprecht was in net again for the Tauros he made 26/27 saves.

The first period was very even both teams were able to get 7 shots on net but both goaltenders were able to stop all 7 shots. There were also 4 penalties on the Wings and 2 on the Tauros. Both teams were not able to get goal on the extra attacker in the period.
In the second period the Wings were able to outshoot their opponent 13 to 12 and that extra shot on goal for the Wings would help them get the 1-0 lead with a powerplay goal coming from Dylan Wegner that goal was assisted by Devon Carlstrom and Jordan Ronn. Once again tons of penalties in the period with the Wings getting 3 penalties assessed to them and Minot getting 5.
The third period Minot was all Minot. They outshot the Wings 10 to 7 while getting two goals in the period. The first goal coming from Kolby Amici and the second goal coming from Weston Knox. This period there weren’t as many penalties with each team getting one on the period.
The Aberdeen Wings will travel to St. Cloud to take on the Norsemen next weekend with another big weekend. The Wings fell into the 5th spot in the Central Division. Though they are tied for points with Minot, the Tauros get the tie breaker with more wins. Still a very tight division heading into the last two weeks of the regular season. Puck drop is at 7 pm in St. Cloud at the St. Cloud Municipal Athletic Complex.
