Wings Fall Friday

The Aberdeen Wings fell to the North Iowa Bulls Friday night in Mason City. Cole Moore was in net for the Wings making 36/39 saves. Mitch Day was in net for the Bulls and was once again able to get the win against the Wings, as he was able to make 15/17 saves on the night.

       The first period was very quiet with it being back and forth. The only action was the shots on net with the Wings getting 6 and the Bulls getting 11. There were no goals and no penalties. Although both teams were able to get scoring chances both goaltenders were able to shut it down in net.
       The second period was the exact same, although the Bulls were able to get one on the board on a breakaway goal coming from Jack Seaverson. There were only one penalty against the Wings and two on the Bulls. Neither team were able to score on the powerplay. The Bulls once again outshot the Wings this time 5 to 16.
       The third period is when the scoreboard opened up. The Wings were able to get two quick goals coming within the first 5 minutes of the final period. One goal coming from Logan Gravink and the second coming from Dylan Wegner. The Wings held a 2-1 lead for only a few minutes as the Bulls would answer back with three goals. One coming from Joe Sweeney, the third Bulls goal came 47 seconds after the second goal this time from Landon Peterson. Then at the end of the period, Max Scott was able to shut the door with an empty net goal to make it 4-2.
       The Wings will face the Bulls one last time this regular season Saturday night March 18th, back in Mason City. The Wings are still in the final playoff spot as of now. They are only a few points behind 2nd and 3rd place but need to start piling together some wins to secure a playoff spot.
