Wings Earn A Point in Shootout Loss Friday

The Aberdeen Wings fell to the Bismarck Bobcats in a shootout Friday night. The Wings were able to grab a point in the loss but look to grab two more Saturday night. Cole Moore was in net for the Wings and was able to stop 47/49. Hunter Garvey was in net for the Bobcats, he was able to stop 20/22.

       The first period wasn’t very eventful, with only one goal scored by Bismarck early coming from Brandon Reller. The rest of the period consisted of one penalty kill and two power plays.  The Bobcats were able to stop the Wings on both power plays. Cole Moore saved 15/16 in the period while Hunter Garvey was able to stop all 7 shots sent his way in the period.

       The Second period had a little more action with both teams scoring a goal. The first goal coming from Attila Lippai 11:28 into the period giving the Bobcats a 2-0 lead. The Wings goal came from Luke Backel 14:07 into the period making it a 2-1 Bobcat lead. Cole Moore was able to stop 12/13 shots he faced in the period. While Hunter Garvey was able to stop 6/7 shots.
       The third period the Wings got the game tying goal coming from Alexander Gullichsen. Cole Moore was able to stop 12/12 while Hunter Garvey was able to stop 6/7.
       Overtime was scoreless with Bismarck getting 7 shots and the Wings getting 1 shot on goal. In the shootout the Bobcats were able to get one past Moore and the Wings went 0/3 in the shootout. Which gave the Bobcats the extra point.

       The Wings will face the Bobcats again Saturday night before coming home for a weekend against the Minot Minotauros. Puck drop is again at 7:15 at the VFW Sports Center in Bismarck, ND.
