Wings Drop Game 1 Friday

Apr 22, 2023

The Wings dropped game 1 in the best of 5 opening round series of the Robertson Cup Playoffs against the St. Cloud Norsemen on Friday night. The final score was 2-1. Cole Moore was in net and he made 20/22 shots he faced. The Wings had a slow start scoring their lone goal in the third period.

In the first period the Norsemen were able to get on the board twice, as they scored less than a minute and a half into the period. Then five minutes later Kade Peterson got the Norsemen on the board again in a controversial high stick. The Wings headed into the first intermission down 2-0.

The second period was slow moving. Only one penalty which was on the Wings and no goals for either teams. The Wings outshot the Norsemen 8-7 in the period but were not able to get one past the Norsemen’s goaltender.
In the third period the Wings were finally able to break the seal getting on the board with a goal coming from Jordan Ronn 5:46 into the third. After that it was more back and forth. The Norsemen were able to get a penalty shot which Cole Moore denied.
The Wings fall 0-1 in the series. But they get a bounce back shot tomorrow night in Game 2 at the Odde.
