Sep 18, 2013

The Aberdeen Wings were in action Wednesday taking on the Janesville Jets at the NAHL Showcase in Blaine, Minnesota. The Wings came out hot in the first period. #27 Erik Baskin (F-Minnetonka, MN) went top shelf to score his first goal of the season at the 6:39 mark with assists from #2 Ryan Cook (D-Lancaster, NY) and #10 Tanner Okeson (D-Roseau, MN). The Wings wouldn't stop there in the first period as Baskin would break through the defense again and score his 2nd goal of the season. He would receive assists from #24 Jonathan Grebosky (F-Pittsburgh, PA) and #20 Dillon Eichstadt (D-Bemidji, MN). Scoring would go dormant for the Wings in periods 2 and 3. In the final period the Janesville Jets' Nick Petrella would score making the final score 2-1 with the Wings coming out on top. Wings goalie #1 Chad Catt (G-Williamstown, MI) would stop 22 of 23 shots with Aberdeen out shooting Janesville 34-23.

Coach Winter was asked about the play of #27 Erik Baskin, scoring two goals. "He’s very dangerous when he gets the puck down around the opponents net," said Coach Winter. "When Erik (Baskin) uses his size and drives wide and gets to the net, he has many opportunities."
