Wings Defeat Minot 3-2

The Aberdeen Wings fans got wild inside the Odde Ice Center as the Wings defeated the Minot Minotauros 3-2 in North American Hockey League action.

In the first period, the Wings got off to a good start with a goal coming at the 15:09 mark on the power play by #27 Erik Baskin (F-Minnetonka, MN) with an assist from #24 Jonathan Grebosky (F-Pittsburgh, PA). Play would go back and forth for the rest of the period as both teams would offer 11 shots on goal.

Right at the start of the 2nd period, the Minot Minotauros would get on the board with a goal from Bigelbach. Minot would really get on the offensive attack in the 2nd planting 19 shots on goal. One of those shots would get through late in the period by Kramer at the 18:29 mark. Minot would lead 2-1.

The third period would prove to be the most intense with both teams battling for puck possession. At the 6:48 mark the Aberdeen Wings would tie up the game 2-2 with a goal from #19 Colin O’Neill (F-Odenton, MD), the second goal of his NAHL career. The energy inside the Odde Ice Center would amp up as the play would get physical. Nearing the 11:00 mark, the Wings would get the deciding goal from #21 Bjorn Sigurdarson (F-Reykjavik, Iceland) with assists from #20 Dillon Eichstadt (D-Bemidji, MN) and #4 Jake Horton (D-Plymouth, MN). Sigurdarson will represent his homeland Iceland in the 2014 World Junior Championships B Pool in Jaca, Spain in mid-January.

The Aberdeen Wings would win the game 3-2 against the Minot Minotauros. The Wings will now pack up and travel to Minot for tomorrow night’s game.
