Wings Come Up Short 4-3 vs. Magicians

Friday night, the Wings hosted the Magicians in a two-game weekend series at the Odde Ice Center. The game would be intense, fast-paced, however the Wings would fall 4-3 despite a late attempt at a comeback.

In the first period, the Wings would surrender a goal to the Magicians’ Milekhin putting Aberdeen down 1-0. The scoring would continue in the 2nd period as Lukas Laub and Connor Bucsis would both score for Minnesota increasing their lead to 3-0.

Just inside the 3rd period, the Wings would finally get on the board with a goal from #19 Colin O’Neill (F-Odenton, MD) with assists from #22 Colin Raver (F-Bartlett, IL) and #25 Tucker DeYoung (F-Lake Bluff, IL). Wings forward #8 Drew Doyon (F-Indianapolis, IN) would drop the gloves with Magicians’ #11 Curtis Simonson, pummeling him to the ice. At the 12:34 mark, the Wings would go on the power play and score thanks to #21 Bjorn Sigurdarson (F-Reykjavik, Iceland) and a great pass from #11 Victor Ostling (F-Stockholm, Sweden) and #10 Tanner Okeson (D-Roseau, MN). The goal would cut the lead for the Magicians down to 3-2. The close battle would be intense but the Magicians would deliver a blow with their own power play goal with just 4 minutes left. The Wings would bring it within one with just 40 seconds left in the game. Wings defenseman #4 Eric Moser (D-Chicago, IL) would score his 2nd goal of the season with assists to #23 Jackson Graalum (F-Fargo, ND) and #25 Tucker DeYoung (F-Lake Bluff, IL). The Wings would struggle to gain possession in the offensive zone falling 4-3 to the Minnesota Magicians. The Wings had great support all game long from the nearly 1,344 Wings fans in attendance.
