Wings announce preseason games

Aug 23, 2021

The Aberdeen Wings’ 2021-22 season will officially kick off on Sept. 15 at the NAHL Showcase in Blaine, MN, with four hockey games in four days.

However, the Wings will get the chance to get on the ice before that with three exhibition matchups.

The first preseason game will take place on Tuesday, Sept.7 when the Wings travel to play the USHL’s Fargo Force. Essentially, this game will be a scrimmage between the two teams, with a four-quarter format being used rather than three periods. The action starts at 12 p.m. This scrimmage is free and open to the public.

The Wings will then travel to Mason City, Iowa to take on the North Iowa Bulls on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 10 and 11. The puck drops Friday night at 7:30 p.m. and again Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. Fans can purchase $5 tickets online at northiowabulls.com/tickets, and fans 12-Under will receive free admission (they will need their own ticket, but won’t be charged). Fans can also watch the game live at Buffalo Wings & Rings in Aberdeen.

Aberdeen and North Iowa will see each other a lot during the 2020-21 season. After the NAHL Showcase on Sept. 15-18, the Wings will travel to face the Bulls the following weekend to try to grab the season’s first weekend sweep. In total, the two teams will face off a dozen times over the course of the regular season.

The Wings will welcome the St. Cloud Norsemen to the Odde Ice Center for the home opener on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 1 and 2.
