WINGS ALUMNI UPDATE!

The University of Wisconsin Stevens Point is 3-1 since returning from Christmas break.  Colin Raver is helping the Pointers with a goal in a 7-1 win over St. Olaf on January 6th and a pair of assists in a 5-1 win over St. Johns on January 13th.  Carter Roo also tallied an assist vs. The Johnnies.  On the season Colin has 5 goals, 8 assists for 13 points in 16 games played, while Carter has 4 goals and 5 assists for 9 points in 16 games.

Colin O’Neill had an assist in a 8-3 win over UMass on January 6th.  He would add another on the 12th vs. Arizona State.  So far on the season Colin has 2 goals and 8 assists in 23 games played for the River Hawks.

Bemidji State started strong in the 2nd half of there season with a 3-1 win over Alabama Huntsville on December 29th.  Dillon Eichstadt & TJ Roo each had an assist in the game.  Dillon was a +2 and TJ was a +1 on the night.  The following night Beavers Captain Jordan Heller recorded an assist and a +1 night to help Bemidji sweep Huntsville.  January 6th the Beavers were taking on Lake Superior State and looking for their 4th straight win.  Heller would have an assist to go along with Roo’s goal and assist to help lead the Beavers to a 6-3 win.  The following weekend it would be Eichstadt’s

Davis DeKorte had an assist on January 13th when Lake Forest topped Trine 6-2.  Lake Forest is 9-8-0 this season and is 6-4-0 in the NCHC.

Henry Dill came in and shut the door on the US Development Team, helping Utica to a victory.  Henry stopped all 12 shots he faced in 1 period of action on January 7th.

Jake Horton had a pair of assists on January 6th for UMass when they took on UMass Lowell.  UMass fell to Lowell 8-3.

Joe Sullivan had an assist on St. Lawrences game winning goal vs. Vermont on December 29th.  The Saints won 3-2.  Joe was also credited with the game winning goal the following night scoring the 1st of 3 for the Saints in a 3-0 win over UMass Lowell.  Sullivan scored another on January 5th vs. Canisius College is a 4-4 tie.  The following night Joe had an assist in a 4-1 win vs. Canisius.  Joe is currently 2nd on the team in points with 13 (8G, 5A) in 22 games played this season for the Saints.

Jon Grebosky & Tanner Okeson assisted on a Concordia goal vs. Wisconsin Superior on December 29th in a 4-2 loss.  Concordia bounced back the following night and saw goals from Zach Doerring and Jon Grebosky in a 4-3 overtime win.  Okeson assisted on the Doerring goal in the 2nd period.  It was former Wings Roo & Raver getting the win on January 5th when they met up with Concordia, however Zach Doerring got things started with a goal in the 1st assisted by Okeson, and Okeson & Grebosky assisted on the Concordia goal in the 3rd.  Stevens point would get 3 from non-Wings alumni in the 2nd to take the 3-2 win.  On January 12th it took overtime to get a win vs. St. Mary’s.  Jon Grebosky and Tanner Okeson notched goals in the 1st and Okeson got the loan helper on the overtime goal.  The next night Concordia fell to St. Mary’s but Jon Grebosky got an assist on a Zach Doerring goal in the 1st.  Zach Doerring also saw some internet fame recently when video of him skating to the Concordia Library to study for finals went viral.  The video has over 1 million views already.  http://www.uscho.com/2018/01/10/doering-corcordia-gear-stretch-run/

Justin Parizek has been enjoying all the successes of playing with the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL.  So far this season Justin has notched 17 goals and 13 assists (30 points) in 32 games played.  He recently was voted to participate in the ECHL All Star Game.  Justin scored a goal and a 5-2 Mountain Division win over the Central Division.

Kevin Fitzgerald and his St. Cloud State Huskies continue to see success this year as they are the current #2 team in the country.  Kevin helped his team to a 5-2 win over Minnesota with an assist on the Huskies eventual game winning goal.  So far this season Kevin has 4 goals and 8 assists in 20 games played.

Nick Jenny helped lead Robert Morris to a win on December 29th over Lake Superior State with a goal in the 2nd period.  Jenny also had an assist the following night is a 2-1 loss vs. Providence.

Peter Krieger had an assist in Minnesota-Duluth’s 5-0 win on December 29th  over Yale.  The following night Krieger had a goal and a tie with Dartmouth.  Duluth would win in a shootout.  Peter had a 4 point night on January 12th vs. Colorado College.  His 2 goals and 2 assists helped give Duluth a 6-5 win.

Peter Thome saw shared time with the 2 other North Dakota Goaltenders in an exhibition game on December 30th vs. the US National Development Team.  Thome stopped all 12 shots he faced in his 17 minutes played.  Thome was back in net for the Fighting Hawks on January 6th as UND was trying to bounce back from a loss the night before vs. Omaha.  Thome was perfect stopping all 15 shots he faced in a 7-0 UND win.

On December 30th Ronnie Hein had 3 assists helping the Ohio State Buckeyes to a 4-1 over Niagara.  Hein had a goal on January 5th when the Buckeyes beat the Michigan State Spartans 4-1.  On January 13th Hein had an assist in a 5-1 win.

University of Minnesota’s Steven Johnson was credited with an assist for the Gophers in a 5-2 January 6th loss to the Huskies.

Defenseman Taylor Richart netted a goal on December 29th when his Utah Grizzlies took on Parizeks Idaho Steelheads.  Richart also got an assist the following night and another on both January 7th and 10th.  January 9th the Grizzlies took on the Rapid City Rush and on the 10th they played   the Allen Americans.

Alex Brooks had an assist on December 27th when his Kansas City Mavericks beat the Tulsa Oilers 4-3.  He had another assist just a few days later in a 4-3 shoot out win over Tulsa.  Brooks has 9 points all on assists so far this season in 34 games played.
