ABERDEEN, S.D.: Aberdeen Wings forward Natan Vertes has committed to Division I hockey at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

Vertes played in 44 games during the 2019-20 season, his first season with the Wings, counting 18 goals and 12 assists. Vertes, who hails from Budapest, Hungary, was also the leading scorer for Team Hungary at the Junior World Championships.

“Natan’s game continued to improved and rapidly advance through the season, said Aberdeen Wings head coach Scott Langer. “His offensive skill and hockey IQ make him a difference maker. Natan’s abilities on and off the ice will allow him to be a difference maker at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.”

“I am proud, honored and excited to announce my commitment to play NCAA Division 1 hockey at Alaska Fairbanks University,” Vertes said. “I would like to thank my family; friends; coaches, past and present; teammates; the Wings family, who helped me get to this point; and God for this opportunity of a lifetime.”
