This past weekend Aberdeen Wing goaltender Peter Thome was selected in the 6th round, 155th overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2016 NHL Draft held in Buffalo, NY.  Thome joins former Aberdeen Wing players Zach Nagelvoort (4th round 111th overall, Edmonton Oilers) & Steven Johnson (4th round 120th overall, Los Angeles Kings) who were both drafted in the 2014 NHL Draft.

Thome was one of 5 NAHL players selected in the Draft.  Thome is a University of North Dakota commit who played in 47 games for the Wings last season and went 17-21-6, with a 2.43 GAA and .929 SV%.  His efforts with the Wings earned him a spot on the NAHL Top Prospects team as well as a spot of the NAHL All-Rookie Team.

Peter is currently in Columbus at the Blue Jackets rookie camp.
