Strada’s Heroics Sweep The Wings Past The Wilderness!

Dec 9, 2018

MN Wilderness 3 @ Aberdeen 4 – The Wings kept sole possession of first place in the Central Division as Joe Strada scored with 29 seconds to give Aberdeen a 4-3 win over the Minnesota Wilderness. Riley Murphy tallied a goal and an assist, Jake Beaune and Dalton Weigel also scored for Aberdeen. Matt Vernon picked up the win as he made 33 saves for the home club.

Beaune got the Wings on the board with a rip from the blue line in the 1st period.  The Widerness would respond to tie the game but with under a minute remaining Murphy would get free on the breakaway and put the Wings back up by 1 heading into the first intermission.  In the 2nd Weigel would give the Wings a 2 goal cushion with his 2nd shorthanded goal of the week.  The Wilderness would answer with 2 early 3rd period goals.  Everything looked to be heading to overtime until Joe Strada went top shelf from his backhand to give the Wings the lead for good with just 29 seconds remaining.

The Wings hit the road to Minot for a Thursday & Friday match up this week before heading home for Christmas break.
