Oct 6, 2014

On Monday, the North American Hockey League announced the Easton Divisional Stars of the Week. The Aberdeen Wings won two games against the #1 ranked Austin Bruins on the road with a 1-0 OT win and 4-3 shootout win. Receiving honorable mentions for Stars of the Week were Aberdeen Wings forward #13 Michael Soucier (F-Caledon, Ontario) and goaltender #35 Andrew Shortridge (G-Eagle River, AK).

Soucier received the honor after scoring the game-winning goal Friday night in overtime. He also offered an assist on a goal Saturday night in the 4-3 win. Soucier is committed to Division-I Bemidji State University and was a 7th Round draft pick of the Wings in the June 2014 NAHL Entry Draft. So far in the 2014-2015 season, Soucier has 2 goals and 4 assists.

Shortridge was the winning goaltender last Friday in a 1-0 overtime win. He stopped all 34 shots on goal to record his first career NAHL shutout. Shortridge was signed out of Main Camp back in July. Last season, Shortridge played for the Phoenix Jr. Coyotes AAA team. So far in 2014-2015, Shortridge is the #1 ranked goaltender in the entire North American Hockey League with a 4-0-0 record and 0.97 goals against average. His GAA and 96% save percentage are both league leading stats for the rookie goaltender.
