The Aberdeen Wings, proud members of the North American Hockey League are pleased to announce that Wings goaltender #35 Andrew Shortridge has made a Division I college commitment to Quinnipiac.

Shortridge, of Eagle River, Alaska makes the commitment while currently being ranked the #2 goaltender in the NAHL. Through 12 games played, he is 8-4-0 with a 1.89 goals against average and 92.9 save percentage. Shortridge is in his rookie NAHL season and has recorded two shutout wins.

“We congratulate Andrew on his commitment to Quinnipiac,” said Wings head coach Francis Anzalone. “This is a well-deserved honor for a quality person who has come in and seized every opportunity as a non-tendered, un-drafted goaltender. “

Shortridge now becomes the 3rd goaltender in as many seasons to make a Division I commitment joining Zach Nagelvoort (U. of Michigan) and Henry Dill (U. of Mass). He also becomes the 5th goaltender in team history to make a Division I commitment. The Aberdeen Wings are in their 5th season in the NAHL and are quickly becoming a destination for solid, aspiring Division I goaltenders.

“We are excited about Andrew's future and we look forward to assisting him in his continued development on and off the ice,” added Coach Anzalone.

Shortridge becomes the 26th Aberdeen Wings player to make a Division I commitment in just over four full seasons in the league. Shortridge has received honors three times this season from the NAHL, including 1st Star of the Week back on November 4th.
