The Wings wrap up October on home ice when they host the Austin Bruins on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 29 and 30 and the Odde Ice Center in Aberdeen.
This marks the first time the two teams will face each other this season, and won’t meet again until the Wings travel to Austin’s home ice on Dec. 3-4.
Last season, the Wings swept the Bruins, going 8-0 and outscoring them 34-14. But with a new year comes a new team, and the Bruins are currently sitting at the top of the Central Division with 18 points in 13 games played. The Wings sit in third in the division with 14 points in 12 games played.
The weekend ahead should be a fun one at the Odde, starting Friday with our Rooster Rush night. Fans are encouraged to help us ‘Break the Barn’ by setting at franchise record for highest single-game attendance. Additionally, the Aberdeen Convention & Visitors Bureau will be at the game with an amazing prize package for one lucky fan, which includes a Zamboni-themed cooler, CVB merchandise, a signed Wings jersey, free tickets and more. There’s only one place to register for the giveaway — that’s at the game Friday night, and you must be present when we draw the winner during our second intermission.
The fun continues on Saturday with our Halloween game. Fans are welcome to dress up in their favorite costume, and candy bags will be available for the first 100 kids through the door. We’ll also host a candy toss on the ice immediately following Saturday’s game.
We welcome the U14 and U16 Team South Dakota National Hockey Teams to the Odde on Saturday night, with team introductions happening during our first intermission.
Tickets can be purchased ahead of puck drop online at tickets.AberdeenWings.com, or at the door. $10 general admission tickets can also be purchased ahead of the game at any C-Express location in Aberdeen, with additional purchase. Doors open both nights at 5:30 p.m., with the puck hitting the ice at 7:15 p.m.
The Wings are on the road next weekend in Minot, with the first game taking place on Thursday, Nov. 4 and the rematch happening on Saturday, Nov. 6. That’s followed by two home-and-home weekends — the Wings are away at Bismarck on Nov. 12, will play the Bobcats at home on Nov. 13, are home against Bismarck again on Nov. 19 and travel there once again on the 20th. Aberdeen returns home for a full weekend when we host the Minotauros on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 26-27.
