Ronn’s OT Winner Gives The Wings Weekend Sweep

Apr 9, 2023

The Aberdeen Wings took the St. Cloud Norsemen to OT, but were able to get the much needed 2 points and a weekend sweep. The Wings had goals coming from Roope Tuomioksa and Jordan Ronn. Cole Moore was once again in the net for the Wings tonight and stayed hot as he only allowed 1 goal and stopped 40/41 shots.

The first the Wings were only able to put up three shots on goal, but all three shots were good scoring attempts. The Norsemen were able to get 16 shots on goal but Cole Moore stopped all of them. There were no penalties either in the first. So we went into the first intermission tied at zero.

In the second period the Wings were able to get a little more zone pressure right away which helped Roope Tuomioksa get the Wings on the board early, to give them the 1-0 lead. There were 3 penalties on each team in the second with neither team able to capitalize on the man advantage. The Wings were outshot in the period 6-8. The Wings went into the 2nd intermission with a 1-0 lead.
The third period the Wings started off on the penalty kill. The Norsemen would take advantage of that and tie the game up only 53 seconds into the third coming from Blake Perbix. Both teams had opportunities on the power play in the third, with the Norsemen getting a goal on theirs and the Wings getting denied. The game stayed tied at 1 through the third period.
In overtime both teams had their time with the puck and were able to get good scoring chances. But only 1:07 into OT Jordan Ronn would get his second on the weekend to complete the weekend sweep of St. Cloud.
The Wings will be home next weekend at the Odde to finish out the regular season once again against the St. Cloud Norsemen. Tickets available at tickets.aberdeenwings.com
