Mar 2, 2014

The University of Michigan has a very historical rivalry with Michigan State University. The #10 ranked Michigan Wolverines and Spartans have created some of the best rivalry games in all sports including football, basketball, baseball, and even ice hockey.

This weekend, the two teams face each other in a home-home series. Michigan goaltender Zach Nagelvoort, a former Aberdeen Wings net minder is 2-0-0 against Michigan State this season. On January 23rd, Nagelvoort stopped 32 of 33 shots for a 2-1 victory. The next night, he stopped 30 of 32 shots for a 5-2 win. Michigan lost to Michigan State 3-0 earlier this season in the outdoor game at Comerica Park in Detroit, but Nagelvoort did not play in that game.

Nagelvoort played for the Aberdeen Wings last season. Nagelvoort is one of the 16 current/former players to commit to a Division I hockey program since the Aberdeen Wings inaugural season in 2010-2011. This hockey year, he received honors by being named on the NHL Central Scouting Report. For the Wolverines, Zach is 10-7-3.
