The Aberdeen Wings, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that defenseman Kevin MacKay has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Trinity College in Hartford, CT.

MacKay, 20, just completed his third season of junior hockey, all of which was spent with the Wings.

The 6’1″ 190 lb. native of Franklin, MA joined the Wings during the 2019-20 season, where he appeared in nine games. The following year, he appeared in 45 games, scoring six goals and adding 13 assists in the Wings’ record-setting 2020-21 season. He also added a goal and three assists in the 2021 playoffs, helping the Wings to runners-up in the national championship game.

In his final year in the NAHL, MacKay scored four goals and added 14 assists in 59 games, including one game-winning goal and adding a power play goal. Overall, he appeared in 131 games for the Wings, scoring 11 goals and 31 assists.

MacKay was also selected to represent Team Central in the 2022 NAHL Top Prospects tournament.

“I’m honored and grateful to have this opportunity,” MacKay said.

“Kevin established himself as our most reliable defenseman and was a quiet leader on the ice,” Wings head coach Steve Jennings said. “Simply put: bad things just didn’t happen when he was on the ice. Trinity is getting an outstanding young man who takes pride in his game and the success of the team.”
