Justin Parizek Jersey Auction Raises over $1,600 for the Red Cross

Mar 27, 2013

Justin Parizek, is the captain of the Aberdeen Wings. Recently he offered his jersey to the American Red Cross after he saw how well a jersey auction went earlier this year for the Aberdeen youth hockey program. He thought of the Red Cross initially because his billet mom is the chapter’s director but mostly because of what he has learned of the Red Cross and how they have responded to recent disasters!

At dinner one evening Justin asked NE South Dakota Chapter Director, Susan Cook, how the Red Cross was able to help so many people. She explained to him that the Red Cross relies heavily on the generosity of donors and volunteers. He was amazed that so many people would step up to help and so much of our funding is donations! Susan thought this was the end of the story, but not for this young determined hockey player. The next night at dinner Justin asked Susan if she thought anyone would pay to have his Top Prospects jersey. She said “of course they would but are you sure you want to do this,” he said, “Sue, there will be other jerseys I want you to have this!” There are only 6 teams in this tournament annually and to be selected to play on one is an honor.

The jersey was on display at the Wings home hockey game this past weekend and raised $1,600.00 for the American Red Cross!!!

Justin is currently visiting Division 1 schools and will continue is hockey career. We believe that Justin’s generosity to humanity is just beginning and look forward to seeing what the future holds for him. Thanks Justin for all your support!
