Horton Named 1st Team All-NAHL, Roo Honored

Tuesday, the North American Hockey League announced the 2013-2014 All-NAHL Teams. Two Aberdeen Wings players made the list.

Wings defenseman Jake Horton (D-Plymouth, MN) was named to the All-NAHL First Team as well as the All-NAHL Central First team. The top honors league-wide compliment a season in which the Wings captain led the entire league in goals scored among defensemen since the second week of the season. Horton finished the season with 21 goals and 25 assists for 46 total points. Horton was also selected to the 2014 NAHL Top Prospects tournament helping Team Central to two wins. Following the NAHL’s all-star weekend, Horton made his collegiate commitment to the Division I University of Massachusetts Minutemen. Spending his entire NAHL career with the Aberdeen Wings, Horton tallied 32 goals and 44 assists.

Wings forward TJ Roo was named to the 2013-2014 All-NAHL Central First Team. The honor comes only a day after being named to the 2013-2014 All-NAHL Rookie First Team. Roo had a very successful rookie season with the Aberdeen Wings including being the leading scorer with 22 goals and 32 assists for 54 points. Roo also made his collegiate commitment this season to the Division I Bemidji State University Beavers.

The North American Hockey League will announce the remainder of the NAHL 2013-14 season awards, including the Most Valuable Player, Forward of the Year, Defenseman of the Year, Brian’s Goaltender of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Coach of the Year, General Manager of the Year and Organization of the Year, along with the Academic Achievement Award and Community Service Award later this week.
