Graalum's Hat Trick Lifts Wings Past Minot

Brookings 1 @ Aberdeen 0 (SO) – It was a goalie duel in Aberdeen on Friday night as Brookings goalie Jake Gwillim and Aberdeen goalie Peter Thome went toe-to-toe in a battle that saw the Blizzard end up with a 1-0 win in a shootout. Zach Mitchell scored the lone goal in the shootout to help the Blizzard pick up the extra point. Both goalies get credit for a shutout with Gwillim making 33 saves and Thome making 32 saves. Boxscore

 

SATURDAY, FEB. 13th

Minot 3 @ Aberdeen 4 (OT) – Jackson Graalum scored a natural hat-trick, which included the overtime-winner as the Wings beat the visiting Minotauros, 4-3. After an opening goal from Carter Roo on the power play, which gave the Wings a 1-0 lead, Minot scored three goals from Austin Martinsen,Jack Murphy and Troy Degler to take a 3-1 lead into the 3rd period. The Wings stormed back in the 3rd period with a pair of goals from Graalum, who scored his second goal to tie the game at 3-3 with just :03 second remaining. Graalum’s overtime winner came on a 3 on 1 rush. Peter Thome made 27 saves in the win, while Gunner Rivers made 30 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Tanner Okeson, Tucker DeYoung and Peter Thome will be traveling to Plymouth,  Michigan to participate in the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament this Monday and Tuesday.  Okeson and DeYoung will play for Team Central, Games are Monday night at 7:30pm & Tuesday afternoon at 2pm.  Thome will be playing for Team East and they have games Monday afternoon at 1:30pm & Tuesday afternoon at 2pm vs. Team Central.  All the games can be watched at fasthockey.com for more information and the full schedule visit http://nahl.com/tpt/
