Former Wing Captain Scores Two For Bemidji

Former Aberdeen Wings captain Cory Ward scored a goal in each of Bemidji State’s games over the weekend against Alabama-Huntsville.

Back in December of 2011, the Aberdeen Wings had one of the top players in the league in #17 Cory Wade of Las Vegas, Nevada. By December 11th, through 24 games, Ward had accumulated 32 points and was leading the Wings to their first playoff season. During his rookie season in 2010-2011, he led the inaugural Aberdeen Wings in scoring with 57 points and 32 goals.

On December 11th, 2011 Cory Ward committed to play for Bemidji State University and the Beavers Hockey Club that was coming off a playoff berth the prior season, including beating #1 Notre Dame in the first round of the playoffs and even made it to the NCAA Division-I Frozen Four.

Last season, his freshman year at Bemidji State, Cory Ward scored 9 goals in 36 games.

This season, the Bemidji State Beavers are 2-3-1, and Cory Ward currently has 4 goals in 6 games played.

Following this NAHL season, current Wings assistant captain #15 Jordan Heller (F-Bemidji, MN) will join the Bemidji State University Beavers hockey club and join Cory Ward in collegiate hockey.
