The Aberdeen Wings only faced two different opponents in the month of February — one series with the North Iowa Bulls and three weekends against the Minot Minotauros.
Now, they’ll meet up with four different teams over the course of four weekends in March, and it all starts tonight and tomorrow on the road in St. Cloud.
The Wings (24-18-2-2) and the Norsemen (28-14-0-1) have met six times so far this season and are even against each other. The Norsemen swept the Wings inside the Odde Ice Center early in the season but the Wings grabbed a shootout win to split the series in St. Cloud just before the holiday break. After the break, the Wings swept the Norsemen on home ice, bringing their record to 3-3 so far. Add in the fact that this is their final regular season matchup, it’s no wonder that this series between the Central Division’s current top two teams will be one to watch.
And the standings are sure be to be shaken up a bit once again as the three- and four-seed teams are slated to face each other, as are the fifth- and sixth-place teams.
The Wings will return to the Odde on Friday and Saturday, March 11-12 to host the Bismarck Bobcats, who are currently riding a five-game win streak as they prepare for a weekend against the North Iowa Bulls. On March 18-19, the Wings travel to face the bulls themselves before wrapping the month back at home against the Austin Bruins — and it’s our annual Teddy Bear Toss night on Saturday, March 26!
