Alumni Update: Smith ranked in NHL’s Top 100

Alumni update for Jan. 17, 2023:

  • Nathan Burke (2016-18): Had one goal and one assist in Bowling Green’s 5-2 win over Rensselaer Institution (RPI) on Dec. 30, 2022. He added a goal in each win against Lake Superior State on Jan. 6 and 7, plus tallied an assist in both wins against Bemidji State on Jan. 13 and 14. He currently has eleven goals and eight assists on the year.
  • Payton Matsui (2020-21): Had an assist on Dec. 31, 2022 to help Alaska-Fairbanks beat nationally-ranked Notre Dame 3-2. He also scored two goals in a 7-2 loss against #1 ranked Denver on Jan. 7 after beating them the previous night. Matsui is the team’s top assist getter with nine on the year.
  • Tim Makowski (2016-19): Had St. Lawrence’s game-winning overtime goal in a 2-1 over the University of Nebraska Omaha on Dec. 30.
  • Henry Welsch (2018-20): Made eight saves in UMass Lowell’s 4-2 loss against Alaska-Anchorage on Dec. 30.
  • Matt Vernon (2017-19): Saved 16 shots to help Colorado College beat Princeton 7-2 on Dec. 30. He also had a combined win with 16 saves to take down #3 St. Cloud State 4-2 on Jan. 13.
  • Colton Huard (2017-19): Had two power play goals and one assist in New Hampshire’s 4-3 loss to Union College on Dec. 30. He also had an assist in a 2-0 win against Providence on Jan. 6, and is third on the team for points with 15 on the year.
  • Liam Fraser (2020-21) had a goal and an assist in St. Norbert’s 3-1 win over St. Lawrence on Dec. 31. He also added three assists in a 5-2 win over Lake Forest College on Jan. 14. In his second year with the Green Knights, he’s amassed 34 goals and 34 assists over 47 games, with 10 goals and 11 assists in 17 games this season. He was also named the 2021-22 Freshman of the Year at St. Norbert.
  • Cullen Ferguson (2020-21): Had an assist in Union College’s 6-1 loss to Cornell University on Jan. 6. Defensively, he’s the team’s leader with blocked shots, tallying 21 so far on the season.
  • Riley Murphy (2016-20): Recorded a hat trick and an assist for Adrian College’s 7-2 win over Lawrence University on Jan. 6, and grabbed another assist the following night in a 4-1 win over Lawrence. He also scored two goals in the span of just 24 seconds in a 7-1 win over Finlandia University on Jan. 14, adding another assist in the process.
  • Clayton Cosentino (2019-21): Scored a goal for Air Force in a 5-1 loss to Boston University on Jan. 6. He also scored a goal in a 5-2 loss against Holy Cross on Jan. 13.
  • Will Arquiett (2020-21): Had a goal in St. Lawrence’s 4-3 OT win against Niagara University on Jan. 7.
  • Thomas Manty (2020-21): Got his first assist of the season in a 6-2 win over Merrimack on Jan. 7. He then notched his first goal of the season in a 3-0 win over Rensselaer on Jan. 14.
  • Jordan Randall (2019-21): Scored a goal in University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire’s 3-1 win over St. Olaf on Jan. 6. He added another goal in their 4-1 over Saint Mary’s University on Jan. 7, and scored a goal and added two assists in a 6-3 win over St. Scholastica on Jan. 14.
  • Colton Fletcher (2016-18): Scored a goal for the Knoxville Ice Bears in a 6-4 win on Jan. 13, and added an assist in a 5-2 loss on Jan. 14.
  • Stepan Pokorny (2018-19): Tallied two assists in Ferris State’s 4-0 shutout win against Lake Superior State on Jan. 13.
  • Nathan Smith (2016-17): Was recently ranked No. 96 in the NHL’s top forward prospects of 2023

  • Christian Abrams (2019-21) has one assist in 14 games played this season with Elmira College. Currently in his second year, he has three goals and six assists 37 total games played.
  • Hugo Allais (2021-22) currently has one goal and two assists in 12 games played with the University of Quebec-Trois-Rivières.
  • Zach Aughe (2019-20) started his collegiate career playing six games for the University of Maine. In the past two season, he’s played in 26 games for Lindenwood University, where he’s scored six goals and added two assists.
  • Bauer Barry (2021-22) has four assists in 15 games with Concordia College.
  • Connor Beatty (2018-20) has two goals and four assists in ten games played with Endicott College.
  • Jake Beaune (2018-20) has a goal and an assist in 21 games in his second season at Mercyhurst University.
  • Brad Belisle (2018-19) has spent the past four seasons at Bemidji State University, where he’s appeared in 20 games total, notching a goal and three assists in the process.
  • Jonathan Bendorf (2017-19) has two goals and four assists in 20 games with Mercyhurst University. In four seasons with the Lakers, he’s appeared in 97 total games, scoring 22 goals and adding 28 assists.
  • Jacob Bossé (2021-22) has one assist in five games with Milwaukee School of Engineering.
  • Pierson Brandon (2018-20) has a goal and four assists in 20 games in his third year at Colgate University.
  • Jakob Breault (2019-20) spent two seasons with Alaksa-Fairbanks before transferring to Utica College this year. So far, he has eight goals and five assists in 15 games played with the Pioneers.
  • Logan Britt (2016-18): After two seasons at Quinnipiac University, he’s currently in his second season at Sacred Heart, where he has a goal and five assists in 21 games.
  • Mack Byers (2019-20): After spending two seasons with Northern Michigan University, Byers has appeared in 22 games at the University of St. Thomas, scoring ten goals and adding three assists.
  • Andy Carroll (2016-17) is currently in his fifth year at Minnesota State Mankato, where he’s got two goals and eleven assists in 24 games.
  • Nico deVita (2019-21) played his first collegiate season at Ferris State before transferring to to the University of New Hampshire. So far, he’s played in five games this season with the Wildcats.
  • Antonio DiPaolo (2019-20) spent two seasons at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks before continuing his education this year at the University of Wisconsin-Superior. So far, he has one assist in 14 games played.
  • Kyle Gaffney (2020-22) has appeared in 21 games played during his first season with Alaska-Fairbanks, recording three goals and four assists.
  • Will Gilson (2021-22) he has four goals and three assists in 17 games played with Alaska-Anchorage.
  • Jake Goldowski (2020-21) returned to the states ahead of the 2022-23 season and how plays for the Evansville Thunderbolts in the SPHL, where he has two assists in six games played.
  • Hugo Gustafsson (2021-22) returned to Sweden for the 2022-23 season and currently plays with Vimmerby HC, where he has three goals and four assists in eight games.
  • Cooper Haar (2019-20) has played 38 total games over three seasons so far at Canasius College, tallying three goals and 12 assists. This season, he has two assists in four games.
  • Logan Jenuwine (2016-17) spent a year at Arizona State University before transferring to St. Lawrence, where he’s appeared in 44 games so far, notching 12 goals and 14 assists with the Lakers.
  • Jack Kelly (2016-18) is currently in his fourth year at St. Norbert College, where he’s appeared in 35 total games. So far this season, he has three assists in 21 games played.
  • Nick Leitner (2015-16) spent two seasons at Bemidji before being picked up by the Knoxville Ice Bears in the SPHL. He’s currently rostered with the Pensacola Ice Flyers, where he has two goals and two assists in eight games played.
  • Kevin MacKay (2019-22) has appeared in three games with Trinity College.
  • Kyle Mandleur (2018-19) currently has a goal and an assist in seven games played in his first year with Wilkes University.
  • Joey Molenaar (2017-18) is in his third year with St, Cloud State University, where he has seven goals and nine assists in 61 total games played.
  • Cade Neilson (2019-22) is in his first season at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, where has two assists in 14 games played.
  • Michael Perrone (2018-19) is currently in his third season at UMass-Dartmouth, where he has four goals and three assists in 13 games played so far. Overall, he has 23 goals and 21 assists in 66 games.
  • Adam Pitters (2016-19) has two goals and four assists in 19 games so far this year, his fourth at Bowling Green.
  • Thomas Rocco (2018-19) played three seasons at St. Cloud State before transferring to SUNY-Oswego this year. So far, he has five goals and four assists in 13 games played.
  • Trevor Russell (2019-21) appeared in 18 games last season at Michigan Tech but didn’t record any points. However, the defenseman already has four goals in 14 games this season with the Huskies.
  • Max Salpeter (2018-19) is in his second season with the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, where he’s recorded three assists in 22 total games played.
  • Spencer Schneider (2019-21): In two seasons with the Bowling Green Falcons, he has two goals and seven assists in 49 total games, which includes three assists so far this year.
  • Adam Shuchart (2021-22) has played in three games with Norwich University.
  • Jake Sibell (2010-21) had a 1-6-1 record in his first year at Niagara University last season. This year, he’s appeared in two games, holding a 1-1 record along with a 3.55 goals-against average and a .857 save percentage.
  • John Sladic (2017-19) is currently in his fourth season at Miami (Ohio) University, where he’s recorded ten goals and eleven assists in 84 career games.
  • Joey Strada (2016-19) is currently in his third year in the SPHL, where he’s currently played in two games for the Peoria Rivermen.
  • Natan Vertes (2019-21) appeared in four games for the University of Alaska-Fairbanks last season before returning to Hungary this season to play with Fehérvár AV19 in the ICEHL. He currently has three goals and four assists in 23 games played.
  • Gabe Vinal (2017-18) played for four seasons at Brown University before transferring to Clarkson University this year.
  • Dalton Weigel (2017-19) is in his fourth year at the U.S. Air Force Academy, where he has three assists in 35 games played.
  • Jackson Yee (2020-22) has one goal in eleven games played this season at the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
