Wings Alumni Report

A number of Wings Alumni were in action this past weekend — here’s a look at some of the action.

Henry Welsch (’18-’20) Welsch improved his freshman record to 2-0 with a 5-3 win over Maine last Sunday. So far this season, he has a 2.00 GAA with a .913 save percentage. His other win came at UConn 2-1 on December 21st. For his efforts against UConn, Welsch was named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week.

Jonathan Bendorf (’17-’19) Bendorf got Mercyhurst on the board with a goal in the second period against Air Force Friday. Mercyhurst would eventually get the 5-2 win. On Saturday, Bendorf added a goal and an assist as Mercyhurst completed the weekend sweep with a 6-3 win. Bendorf is playing in his second season and has three goals and three assists in ten games played so far this year.

Logan Britt (’16-’18) Britt scored a goal to send Quinnipiac to overtime Friday night. Ultimately, the Bobcats fell in overtime to Clarkson. In two seasons at Quinnipiac, Britt has three goals and one assist in 42 games played.

Josh Passolt (’14-’15) Passolt scored the game-winning goal on the power play as Western Michigan beat Miami of Ohio 4-1 Friday night. Passolt is currently in his senior season with Western Michigan; so far this season, he has four goals and eight assists in 14 games played. He serves as the team’s assistant captain.

Kevin Fitzgerald (’15-’17) Fitzgerald, who’s in his senior season with the Huskies, scored the game-winning goal early in the third period as St. Cloud State beat Minnesota Duluth 4-3 Friday night. So far this season, he has four goals and three assists in 13 games played. He serves as the team’s assistant captain.

Stepan Pokorny (’18-’19) Pokorny got his first collegiate point with an assist on the first goal of the night; however, it wasn’t enough as Ferris State lost to Alabama Huntsville Friday. Pokorny is in his freshman season at Ferris State.

Tim Makowski (’16-’19) Makowski had an assist on the game winning goal as St. Lawrence beat Colgate Thursday night 2-1. That was his third assist on the season. So far, he has played in 38 games (second season at St. Lawrence) with one goal and seven assists.

Shawn Knowlton (’16-’17) Knowlton had a pair of goals Saturday, but it wasn’t enough as Mercyhurst and Jonathan Bendorf was able to get the weekend sweep. Knowlton serves as an assistant captain for Air Force in his fourth season at the Academy. Thus far, he has two goals and two assists in five games played.

Pierson Brandon (’18-’20) Brandon had an assist Saturday night as Colgate forced a weekend split against St. Lawrence 4-2. That’s his fourth assist in his freshman campaign at Colgate in seven games played.

Tucker DeYoung (’14-’16) DeYoung scored a power play goal to help lead Army to a 5-3 win over AIC Sunday night. DeYoung is in his fourth season at Army. In four games played this season, he as a goal and an assist. Over his career, DeYoung has played in 69 games with 15 points, six goals nine assists.

Nick Jenny (’16-’17) Jenny started the scoring for Robert Morris as they rolled to a 6-2 win over Niagra Sunday. Jenny is in his senior season with Robert Morris and is currently the team’s captain. So far this season, the defenseman has four goals and five assists in 13 games played. Throughout his time at Robert Morris, he has played in 93 games and has a total of 14 goals and 14 assists.
