Aberdeen, SD

Known as The Hub City, Aberdeen is situated in northeastern South Dakota, roughly 275 miles west of the Twin Cities and 127 miles southwest of Fargo, N.D.

As of 2018, Aberdeen’s population is 28,562.

Aberdeen’s thriving economy promotes a high quality of life for its residents. Our unemployment rate has consistently been below both the statewide and national average. In fact, America’s Promise Alliance recognized the Aberdeen community as one of the “100 Best Communities for Young People” in 2010 and 2011.

All Wings high school-aged players attend Aberdeen Central High School. With an enrollment of approximately 1,200 students, Aberdeen Central was listed as one of “America’s Best High Schools” by Redbook Magazine and is located less than 5 miles from the Odde Ice Center.

There are two post-secondary educational institutions in Aberdeen. Northern State University (NSU) has an enrollment of approximately 3,600 students. Across town and across from the Odde Ice Center sits Presentation College, a private, Catholic college with around 700 students.

Aberdeen is home to two state-of-the-art medical centers: Avera St. Luke’s Hospital and the Sanford Aberdeen Medical Center.

Aberdeen offers plenty of big-box shopping, plus a quaint downtown and the Aberdeen Mall, home to dozens of stores, a movie theater and more.

Aberdeen Wings players receive free memberships to our area YMCA, which features a weight room, cardio training center, swimming pool, indoor track, basketball/racquetball courts and a whirlpool/sauna.

The Aberdeen Regional Airport, a Delta connection partner, offers daily, non-stop jet service to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
