THE NAMES BEHIND THE TEAMS

These players all left the jersey in a better place. They sacrificed everything they had to make
the Wings a success.

Team Fitzgerald

Kevin Fitzgerald (2015-2017) was a huge asset during his time with the Wings. The Oak Brook, Illinois native tallied 84 points in his 110 games in Aberdeen. His solid play earned him a commitment with St. Cloud State where he played 4 years; winning two straight NCAA NCHC Regular Season Championships. Kevin earned numerous awards with St. Cloud State including 2-time alternate captain (20-22), NCAA NCHC Sportsmanship Award (20-21), Lowes Senior Class All-American 2nd Team (20-21), and NCAA NCHC Second All-Star Team (21-22). After graduating he signed a professional contract with the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL (21-22) before playing overseas in Finland.

Team Sicoly

Nic Sicoly (2017-2019) played a huge role for the Wings; one that could score if needed and lead with character and drive. Nic would score 41 goals and racked up 53 assists in his 104 games for the Wings, leading them to a Robertson Cup Championship in 2018-2019. His leadership skills earned him the honor of Alternate Captain during the 2017-2018 season and Captain in 2018-2019. He earned the Wings Heart Award, given to the player who digs deeper and plays the game from the heart in 2018. Nic would go on to commit to Mount Royal University in Calgary, Alberta, where he began playing in 2019-2020.

Team Beaune

Jake Beaune (2018-2020) was a strong leader and defensive force for the Wings. During his time in Aberdeen, Beaune notched 39 points in 90 games and was + 11. In 2018-2019, his offense and defensive skill helped lead the Wings to the franchise’s first ever Robertson Cup Championship. Later that summer, Beanue represented the Wings during the inaugural Sirius World Junior Cup, held in Sochi, Russia. He was part of Team NAHL and was named the captain prior to the start of their opening round, and helped the team to a fifth-place finish. Upon his return to Aberdeen he was awarded another honor, with the captain’s “C” placed on his Wing’s sweater. In 2019-2020 Jake earned the NAHL’s Central Division Leadership Award and was named to the All-Star team. After his time with the Wings, Beaune went on to play one season with the USHL Lincoln Stars before going to Mercyhurst University where he was a solid contributor to the Lakers. He was named captain for the Lakers in the 2024-2025 season.

Team Mackie

Gage Mackie (2016-2017) may have only played one season with the Wings, but he made a huge impact that set the Wings on the road to success. When Gage joined the Wings, he was ranked the No. 178 North American skater in the NHL 2015 draft class, according to NHL Draft Central. Mackie had character and a willingness to take on the leadership role and was named Captain of the Wings, netting 14 goals and 21 assists that season. Gage always put the team first and was a huge reason why the Wings were able to win the Central Division and advance to the Robertson Cup Semifinals. He went on to be named the NAHL Captain of the Year and earned the NAHL Leadership Award. Mackie committed to Arizona State University and became the youngest commit in the program’s early history.

Team Haak

Kyle Haak (2012-2015), an Okemos, Michigan native, played 177 games for the Wings. He was among the team’s top rookie scorers in 2012-13 with 25 points. The following season Haak was fifth on the team with 41 points (14-27-41) and led the team with 19 goals, 35 assists and 54 points in 2014-15. He received the 2014-15 Central Division Academic Achievement Award. Kyle went on to commit to the Air Force Academy where he was elected as both the Air Force Association Cadet of the Year and U.S. Air Force Cadet of the Year for 2018. On the ice for the Falcons, he helped lead the team to back-to-back Atlantic Hockey Conference championships. In 2019 he became only the 2nd Air Force Hockey player to win the NCAA Hockey Senior Class Award. Given annually to the most outstanding senior student-athlete in Division I men’s hockey for excellence on and off the ice.

\ Team Ward

Corey Ward’s (2010-2012) presence was felt instantly as he contributed to the offense in big numbers, scoring 67 goals and 53 assists in 123 games played.  Wards’ outstanding play on the ice earned him honors including the NAHL All-Rookie First Team and NAHL Central All-Star Team. Corey parlayed that success on the ice into an offer from Bemidji State University where he would play for 4 seasons. Following his college career, he signed a pro contract with the AHL St. Johns IceCaps. He went on to play for several professional teams including the Syracuse Crush, Ontario Reign, Springfield Thunderbirds, and the ECHL Tulsa Oilers.

Team Pitters

Adam Pitters (2017-2019) was an outstanding talent that contributed substantially for Aberdeen. He tallied 34 goals and 59 assists in 144 games with the Wings, including 18 playoff points.  The 2018-2019 season would highlight Pitters talent with the Wings winning the Robertson Cup. Adam signed the dotted line and played collegiately for Bowling Green State University from 2019-2023. There he earned CCHA All-Academic (2022-23 & 2021-22), WCHA Scholar Athlete (2020-21) and WCHA All-Academic (2020-21) awards. After four seasons with the Falcons, and one season with Long Island University, Pitters signed to play professionally with the Fayetteville Marksmen in the SPHL. Adam spent 2024-2025 with the Tahoe Knight Monsters in the ECHL.

Team Huard

Colton Huard (2017-2019) was a huge asset to the blue line during his time with the Wings. The Foothill Ranch, California native tallied 16 points in his 68 games in Aberdeen and was +32. His solid play gained him a chance to play in the USHL for the Fargo Force and Chicago Steel. In the USHL he recorded 35 points in 93 games and helped Chicago win the Clark Cup in 2020-2021. Colton went on to play four seasons with the University of New Hampshire where he totaled 67 points (14 G, 53 A) in 134 games. He led defensemen in scoring for each of the first three seasons with UNH. Following college, he signed a professional contract with the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL.
