Dec 22, 2016

This week’s Throw Back Thursday focuses on December 17th 2011 when the Wings hosted Minot.  If you didn’t get to the game on time, chances are you missed the first of Cory Wards 3 goals that night.  Just 13 seconds into the game Ward put the Wings on top with an assist from fellow Las Vegas Native Joe Sullivan.  Joe Mottiqua would add the eventual game winning goal at the 12:50 mark of the first giving the Wings a 2-0 lead at the break.  Assisting on the Mottiqua goal were Hurley and Brooks.  Ward would start the 2nd period with another goal at the 5:59 mark, this time getting the assists were Becker and Ohnsted.  Minot would get their only goal midway through the 2nd to make things interesting.  In the 3rd it was all Aberdeen.  Mike Parnell got on the score sheet at the 4:29 mark, with Prescott assisting.  Then Ward would finish out the Hat Trick at the 10:40 mark with Ohnsted assisting to give the Wings a 5-1 win.  Marcus Zelzer was the winning goaltender stopping 24 of the 25 shots he faced.

Your Aberdeen Wings are off this weekend for Christmas.  We will be back in action next Friday Dec. 30th in Brookings then back at the Odde Saturday Dec. 31st to host the Blizzard on New Years Eve!  The Wings Organization would like to wish you and yours a Merry Christmas!
