2014 Wings Training Camp: July 17-20

May 28, 2014

On Tuesday, June 3rd the North American Hockey League will hold the 2014 NAHL Entry Draft. For the Aberdeen Wings, the draft will be an opportunity to select players that impressed the scouting staff last season and also showcased their talents at the Wings Pre-Draft Tryout Camp.

July 17th through the 20th, all players under tender contract, selected in the draft, and those returning players will report to the Aberdeen Wings Training Camp to be held in Mendota Heights, Minnesota. Over the four days, Wings coaching and scouting staffs will evaluate players and the condition of those returning players.

The Aberdeen Wings Training Camp staff will include newly promoted head coach Francis Anzalone. After serving as Director of Player Personnel last season, Anzalone will now take the reins of a program that has seen 14 players commit to Division I schools in the past 18 months under then head coach Travis Winter, who accepted an assistant coach position with his alma mater Bemidji State University earlier this week.

Alongside the newly promoted coaches and staff will be Mike Grattan, head scout and Director of Player Development. The Aberdeen Wings Training Camp will be an intense one for Grattan as projecting players' skills and performance will be an all day long process.

The Aberdeen Wings are entering their 5th season in the North American Hockey League. Every season since 2010-2011, the Wings have held the highest attendence in the division. Last season, a total of nearly 45,000 fans packed the newly renovated Odde Ice Center. For more information on the Odde Ice Center, click on the bar. Follow the Wings on Facebook & Twitter.
