Wings Drop 4th Straight, 3-2 SO Loss

Dec 5, 2014

Friday night, the Aberdeen Wings traveled to Bismarck to take on the Bobcats in NAHL action. The Wings (13-12-1) are trying to snap a three-game losing streak while Bismarck (12-13-1) is coming off a high-scoring split with the Minnesota Wilderness.

From the drop of the puck, the physical play and speed of the game would be high. At the 8:36 mark, Wings defenseman #10 Tanner Okeson (D-Roseau, MN) would skate in from the blue line and find the back of the net thanks to assists from #16 Kyle Haak (F-Okemos, MI) and #21 Bjorn Sigurdarson (F-Reykjavik, Iceland). Later in the period, the Bismarck Bobcats would get on the board with a goal from Alex Strand. With two minutes left, the Wings would answer with a goal from #22 Colin Raver (F-Bartlett, IL) with the assist to #8 Drew Doyon (F-Indianapolis, IN). The goal would be the first of Raver’s NAHL career.

With no scoring in the second period, the Bobcats would hunt for a goal the entire third. At the 3:53 mark, they would get a goal from Cullen Willox tying the game 2-2 through regulation. In the overtime period, the Wings had a couple early scoring opportunities but Bismarck really put the pressure on late in OT. The extra period would end scoreless sending it to a shootout.

Logan Rivard, Cullen Willox, and Evan Giesler would all score in the shootout, while Wings’ Okeson was the only to score giving the Bobcats their 13th win of the season. Wings goaltender #1 Chad Catt (G-Williamstown, MI) stopped 27 of 29 shots.
