Player Highlight: #7 Matt Brettingen

Aug 26, 2014

The Aberdeen Wings continue off-ice training this week as the players arrived Monday.

Today we highlight defenseman Matt Brettingen, one of the returning players from last season’s NAHL playoff team. A native of St. Cloud, Minnesota, Brettingen joined the Aberdeen Wings’ highly ranked defensemen corps. He played on the blue-line alongside captain Jake Horton (All-NAHL First Team, 2014 Top Prospects) and Dillon Eichstadt (2014 Top Prospects, USHL Draft Pick). Brettingen was on the ice for 38 games last season gathering a goal and 2 assists. At 6’1”, 200lbs, Brettingen could be a force along the boards.

The Aberdeen Wings have two exhibition pre-season games scheduled at the Topeka Roadrunners the first weekend of September. The official start of the 2014-2015 season will be in Blaine, Minnesota on Wednesday, September 17th against the Johnstown Tomahawks. The home opener will be Friday, September 26th against rival Bismarck Bobcats at the Odde Ice Center, known throughout the league as the “Toughest Arena To Play In”.
