Wings Win 3rd In A Row

Saturday night the Aberdeen Wings (24-17-3) took on the Brookings Blizzard (13-26-7) at the Odde Ice Center. The Wings are on a two-game winning streak after defeating the Minot Minotauros at home 6-3 on Thursday and beat Brookings last night on the road 2-1.

Inside the first period, the Wings would get on the board thanks to a goal from #24 Jonathan Grebosky (F-Pittsburgh, PA) with assists from #19 Colin O’Neill (F-Odenton, MD) and #27 Erik Baskin (F-Minnetonka, MN). Up 1-0, the Wings wouldn’t stop there. At the 17:19 mark, Wings forward #16 Kyle Haak (F-Okemos, MI) would score thanks to assists from #15 Jordan Heller (F-Bemidji, MN) and #11 TJ Roo (F-Coon Rapids, MN). The Wings would outshoot the Blizzard 14-8 in the first period.

In the second period, at the 4:40 mark the Wings would turn over the puck in front of their own net leaving it for Brookings forward Beau Michaud who would make it 2-1 unassisted. Aberdeen would continue to pepper the Blizzard goaltending outshooting them 13-9.

For the third period, the Wings would inch closer to their third-straight win. At the 4:04 mark the Blizzard would put the celebration on hold with a goal from Conrad Sampair on the power play. Now tied 2-2, the Aberdeen Wings would push for the win. After a Brookings tripping call, the Wings would go on the power play. The #2 power play unit in the entire NAHL would take the ice and at the 7:09 mark, defenseman #4 Jake Horton (D-Plymouth, MN) would fire his 18th goal of the season to give the Wings the lead. Assists would come from #11 TJ Roo (F-Coon Rapids, MN) and #15 Jordan Heller (F-Bemidji, MN). The rest of the period, the Wings would keep the Blizzard from scoring to win their third-straight 3-2 over Brookings.
