After a thrilling victory over the Minot Minotauros on Thursday night, the Wings jumped on the bus to take on the Brookings Blizzard.
The Aberdeen Wings (23-17-3) entered the second game of a three-game weekend against the Brookings Blizzard (13-25-7) who in the last 10 games have ended up 3-10.
The first period was quick action for both teams. At the 4:03 mark, Aberdeen would go on the power play from hooking penalty against Blizzard defenseman Matt Hefter. With the penalty nearly expired, Wings defenseman #4 Jake Horton (D-Plymouth, MN) would find the back of the net to put Aberdeen up 1-0 with an assist from #11 TJ Roo (F-Coon Rapids, MN). Halfway through the period, Brookings would answer with a goal from Russ Jordan. Though tied 1-1, Aberdeen outshot Brookings in the first period 12-5.
The power play would prove to be successful for the Wings. In the second period at the 11:39 mark, Wings forward #27 Erik Baskin (F-Minnetonka, MN) would score with assists from #3 Daniel Billett (D-Highlands Ranch, CO) and #24 Jonathan Grebosky (F-Pittsburgh, PA). The score would end up being the final of the night. The Wings again outshot Brookings in the second period 13-7.
The third period would be a back and forth battle between both teams, Aberdeen only outshot the Blizzard 5-3. The Wings would pick up their 2nd straight win. Aberdeen goaltender #30 Henry Dill (G-Columbus, OH) stopped 14 of 15 shots for his 10th career NAHL win.
