Wings Split Pre-Season Home & Home

Your Aberdeen Wings kicked off the 2016-2017 season with a home and home series this past weekend vs Brookings.  The Wings hit the road Friday and headed South to face their in-state rivals.  The new look Wings showed a physical side that was missing the past few seasons, but ultimately ended up falling to the Blizzard 5-3 with an empty net goal.  Kevin Fitzgerald had 2 goals for the Wings while Shawn Knowlton added the 3rd goal for the Wings.  Brock Thompson and Arrtu Kulmala shared time in the net.

Saturday the Wings returned to the Odde in a day filled with festivities.  The team began the day at the 4th annual Out of the Darkness Suicide Prevention 5k.  Then that evening they hosted the Blizzard.  The excitement in the stands carried over to the ice as the Wings soared to a 6-0 victory.  Dennis Bernhardtz, Ethan Stewart, Colin Raver, Zach Noble & Jack Kelly (2) provided the scoring for the Wings.  Kulmala & RJ Pluhar combined for the shut out.

The Aberdeen Wings will be opening up their regular season in Bismarck next Saturday September 17th.  The game can be watched at fasthockey.com or tune into 94.1fm The Rock or hubcityradio.com.
