Wings Outshoot Brookings 58-22, Win 6-0

After a wild 7-0 victory for the Aberdeen Wings on Friday night, they traveled again to Brookings to take on the Blizzard Saturday.

From the drop of the puck, the Wings controlled a majority of the possession placing 16 shots on goal compared to Brookings’ 8 shots. On the power play, at the 4:11 mark, Wings forward #11 TJ Roo (F-Coon Rapids, MN) would break loose one-on-one against Blizzard goaltender Connor Girard. With some crafty moves, Roo would score to put the Wings up 1-0 with an assist from #15 Jordan Heller (F-Bemidji, MN). Towards the end of the period, the Wings would get another goal. #12 Austin Heakins (F-Mars, PA) would find the back of the net thanks to assists from #8 Drew Doyon (F-Indianapolis, IN) and #22 Zach Doerring (F-Chanhassen, MN).

Up 2-0 to start the 2nd period, Wings defenseman #4 Jake Horton (D-Plymouth, MN) would score on an assist from #10 Tanner Okeson (D-Roseau, MN). The real story of the 2nd period would be the statistic that the Aberdeen Wings outshot Brookings 24-5.

In the third period, #27 Erik Baskin (F-Minnetonka, MN) would score at the 11:39 mark with an assist from line-mate #24 Jonathan Grebosky (F-Pittsburgh, PA). Now 4-0, on the power play again, Wings rookie defenseman #2 Ryan Cook (D-Buffalo, NY) would score his 2nd goal of the season with assists from #17 Davis DeKorte (F-DeWitt, MI) and #16 Kyle Haak (F-Okemos, MI). The Wings would not stop there as #8 Drew Doyon would score with assists from #22 Austin Heakins and #22 Zach Doerring. The Wings won 6-0.

The Aberdeen Wings outshot the Brookings Blizzard 58-22 on the game. Wings goaltender #30 Henry Dill (G-Columbus, OH) would record the shutout win stopping at 22 shots for his 17th win of the season, now 17-7-1 with a 2.26 goals against average. Aberdeen would capitalize on two of their 10 power play opportunities.
