Jan 19, 2015

Former Aberdeen Wings defenseman and current Sioux Falls Stampede player Dillon Eichstadt has been named the USHL Defenseman of the Week after posting three goals in two games last weekend.

On Friday, Eichstadt tallied two goals and finished a plus-3 in a 7-3 victory over Waterloo at the Premier Center. With the Herd leading 2-1 in the second period, Eichstadt wristed a shot from the slot to regain a two-goal lead for the Herd. He would score again and help put the game out of reach at 4:44 of the third period to give Sioux Falls a 5-2 advantage just 4:44 into the third period. It was his first multi-goal game of the season. On Saturday, Eichstadt tallied the only goal in a 3-1 loss to Waterloo. The Herd are 6-1-1 so far during their nine-game homestand.

The Bemidji, MN native leads the Stampede in defensive scoring with 14 points (4g, 10a) and is a plus-3 in 32 games this season. He was selected by the Sioux Falls Stampede with the first round pick (13th overall) in the USHL Draft last May.

Eichstadt played in 51 games for the Aberdeen Wings last season scoring 4 goals and 31 assists. As a member of the NAHL Aberdeen Wings, Eichstadt made a Division-I commitment to play for Bemidji State University. He also played in 3 games for the Sioux City Musketeers in the 2013-2014 season.
