Tuesday marked the 2015 NAHL Draft in which the Aberdeen Wings held the 8th overall pick. The Wings selected 8 forwards with 8 picks. View the list of players selected in this year’s draft.


1ST ROUND | 8th OVERALL PICK | Forward Zach Mills | Hill-Murray HS

From Cottage Grove, Minnesota, Mills had a huge 2014-2015 season at Hill-Murray HS scoring 24 goals and 22 assists. Along with the big numbers, he also added 4 game winners and 3 power play goals. The 5-10, 175 lbs left-handed forward will join the Aberdeen Wings, as will all drafted players, for Main Camp July 17-19.


The Aberdeen Wings did not select in the 2nd Round. The pick was involved in a prior trade.  


3RD ROUND | 52nd OVERALL PICK | Forward Kevin Fitzgerald | Vermont Lumberjacks

Fitzgerald had a great 2014-2015 season with the Vermont Lumberjacks. The 3rd round selection scored 10 goals and 11 assists.


3RD ROUND | 54th OVERALL PICK | Forward Cole Chatham | St. Louis Blues AAA

The 5-11, 170lbs forward from Belleville, Illinois scored 8 goals and 8 assists in 28 games Tier I midget. In his 2012 season, Chatham scored 20 goals.


4TH ROUND | 74th OVERALL PICK | Forward Gavin Payne | Minnetonka HS

The leading scorer Minnetonka HS last season, Payne compiled 13 goals and 21 assists in 25 games. A big forward at 6-1, 195lbs, his size will mix well with the energetic Wings forwards.


The Aberdeen Wings traded their 5th Round Pick to the Fairbanks Ice Dogs during last season for forward Matt Pulver. The Wings acquired a 5th Round Pick from another team in a separate deal.


5TH ROUND | 101st OVERALL PICK | Forward Mitch Campbell | Pittsburgh Penguins Elite

The 5th rounder scored 11 goals and 16 assists for a very talented Pittsburgh Penguins Elite Tier I team.


6TH ROUND | 116th OVERALL PICK | Forward Ryan Murphy | Okanagan Hockey Academy

The forward from Orono, Minnesota opened many eyes in the world of hockey, after scoring 39 goals and 47 assists for the Okanagan Hockey Academy. Earlier in May, Murphy was selected in the 17th round by the Cedar Rapids Roughriders of the USHL.


7TH ROUND | 133rd OVERALL PICK | Forward Chase Jungels | Benilde-St. Margaret’s HS

Jungels had a great season in 2014-2015 putting up 16 goals and 22 assists. The 5-9, 165 lbs. forward totaled 45 goals in his high school career.


8TH ROUND | 147th OVERALL PICK | Forward Ethan Stewart | Milwaukee Jr. Admirals

The Rockford, Illinois native played Tier I last season for Milwaukee, scoring 9 goals and 16 assists in 49 games.


With a strong veteran defensive corps, the Wings added 8 forwards in this year’s draft. Also newcomers joining the Wings attack this year will be tendered forward Kieran Durgan, Ryan Hein, Jake Leitner, Josh Passolt, Carter Roo, and Kyle Wagner. All returning players, those that were tendered, drafted, or invited will report to Main Camp July 17-19.
