DeKorte Makes College Commitment

The Aberdeen Wings, proud members of the North American Hockey League are pleased to announce on behalf of Wings forward Davis DeKorte that he has committed to play collegiate hockey for Lake Forest College, a Division III program in Illinois.

DeKorte joined the Aberdeen Wings late last season via trade from the Springfield Jr. Blues where he served as team assistant captain. DeKorte had 8 goals and 15 assists combined last season, a goal and 3 assists in 17 games as a member of the Wings.

"We congratulate Davis on his commitment to Lake Forest,” said Wings head coach Travis Winter. “Davis joined our team late last season and provided great leadership and a solid work ethic.”

DeKorte played his entire junior hockey career in the NAHL including playing time with the Janesville Jets, (now defunct) Kalamazoo Jr. Wings, Springfield Jr. Blues, and the Aberdeen Wings. In his NAHL career, DeKorte played in 149 games with 20 goals, 40 assists, and 60 points scored.

He now joins the Lake Forest College Foresters, Division III hockey members of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association. Last season, the Foresters were 15-12-1 including scoring 92 goals in just 28 games.

“His commitment (to Lake Forest) is well deserved,” added Winter.

The Aberdeen Wings wrapped up their 2014 Pre-Draft Tryout Camp in Mendota Heights, MN this weekend. Players from all over the country and internationally showcased their skills in front of hockey operations and development staff members in hopes being selected in the 2014 NAHL Entry Draft which will be held June 3rd.
