Big Win For Wings, 4-1

Mar 28, 2015

The Aberdeen Wings, coming off a 2-1 loss the night before, entered the arena in Richfield, Minnesota ready to get some momentum heading into next week’s playoff round against the Austin Bruins. The Wings and Magicians games have been battles, and a battle it would be Saturday night.

No scoring in the first period, but both teams would find some decent scoring opportunities. The Magicians would outshoot the Wings in the first period 10-8.

In the second, the scoreboard would start lighting up. At the 1:13 mark, Wings forward #25 Tucker DeYoung (F-Lake Bluff, IL) would score on a sweet pass from #22 Colin Raver (F-Bartlett, IL) and an assist also given to #19 Colin O’Neill (F-Odenton, MD). The 1-0 lead for the Wings wouldn’t last long, as a slashing call would put the Wings down 5-on-4. The Magicians would score on the power play with a goal from Kane Durment. The 1-1 tie would only last a few minutes as the Wings’ hot line would strike again. Wings forward #22 Colin Raver would score with an assist credited to #25 Tucker DeYoung. The 2-1 lead for the Wings would extend further at the 14:25 mark as Wings goaltender #30 Luke Kania (G-Chicago, IL) would feed forward #21 Bjorn Sigurdarson (F-Reykjavik, Iceland) who would send the pass a long distance to Wings forward #20 Josh Passolt (F-Hayward, WI) for the goal.

With a 3-1 lead, the third period would be key to the Aberdeen Wings’ momentum going into next weekend’s first round of the playoffs against Austin. The up tempo play would not fault. At the 2:41 mark, Wings forward #21 Bjorn Sigurdarson would score giving Aberdeen a 4-1 lead. The rest of the period, the Wings would go shot for shot with the Magicians. Wings goaltender #30 Luke Kania made some big saves and held off the attacks for the 4-1 win.
