Aberdeen squeaks by Minot, 3-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Aberdeen Wings escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Minot Minotauros.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Erik Baskin at 19:11 of the third period.

Aberdeen was paced by Baskin, who racked up one goal and one assist.

The Wings’ offense rang up 38 shots on Minot’s net.

Aberdeen also had goals scored by Kyle Haak and Jonathan Grebosky, who scored one goal each. In addition, Aberdeen received assists from Jake HortonTJ RooJordan Heller, and Colin O Neill, who contributed one a piece.

The Minotauros excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

Minot was helped by Jacob Howie, who had one goal. Howie scored on the power play 15:10 into the second period to make the score 1-1. The Minotauros had gained a power play chance when Roo was whistled for delay of game. Colton Kramer assisted on the tally. Scott Dornbrock also scored for Minot. More assists for Minot came via Tanner Holmquist, who had one.

Chad Catt made 23 saves for Aberdeen on 25 shots. The Wings ended with 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors. Merrick Madsen recorded 35 saves for Minot. The Minotauros totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play.
